Considering the best sage green kitchenware and accessories is a great way to implement this muted colour into the kitchen, without changing too much and end up with some painting overalls on. Of course, if this hue is totally you, then we recommend getting the kit out with some Dulux Heritage paint. Alternatively, you could jump on this earthy 2023 kitchen colour trend in a more budget-friendly way by making a few changes to your accessories, appliances and cookware.
Perhaps, you’re wondering what is sage… Sage green is a “mid-tone, blue-based green,” says Dulux Heritage. Muted and well-loved, it’s taken its name from the medicinal herb, sage, and is a firm cottage garden favourite. It’s a perfect shade if your kitchen is going for something vintage-inspired and country-inspired like Lily Allen. Believe it or not, this shade is rising in the ranks, becoming a “modern classic for interiors.” This organic, natural-looking shade is all the rage on Pinterest, too.

This isn’t the end of modern kitchens, though. Though sage green pairs perfectly with classic, antique brass furnishings and vintage-inspired kettles, sage green can become chic and modern. You can add sage green as a secondary colour to a dark-toned kitchen for a fabulous look to your kitchen. This can be done by shaking up your kitchen island to accommodate this hue or adding a lick of khaki paint to your cupboards. Green isn’t just reserved for chintz, grannycore crockery and gingham furnishings.
For your kitchen, why not consider the best sage kitchenware and accessories? This can start with some beautiful green tableware, such as dinner plates and cutlery, to add that muted, organic hue to your dining. Or, you could implement some kitchen appliances that are olive or sage in colour. Nothing is stopping you from buying a sage sensor bin. For all of our top green kitchen picks, see below. Best sage green kitchen pan
fromourplace.co.uk
If you’ve been on the internet at any time this year, there is a fair chance you’ve come across the Always Pan from Our Place. And – yes, you may be thinking. A viral pan? Surely, not. Allegedly, the Always Pan can replace your frying pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula and spoon rest. That’s a lot, and we are impressed. With the updated 2.0 version, the stylish Always Pan can even double as a roasting or baking dish. Fancy that.
If you're interested, read our full review of the Always Pan at A Modern Kitchen.
Pros
- Integrated all-in-one design
- Chemical-free non-stick
- Innovative extras to impress
Cons
- Not dishwasher safe
- It might be too bulky to store for some
- Tried and Tested by Piper Huxley:
"I’m a proper foodie, so I am always enthusiastic about cookware. But it's safe to say I have now joined the many people on social media who are obsessed with this Always Pan.
When the Always Pan launched in July last year, I was intrigued by the claims of 'replacing your cookware.' Now, I’m a firm believer in this possibility. The Always Pan is unrivalled in its originality, innovation and practicality. In fact, I would go as far as to say that it has the makings to revolutionise cookware. If you grab a mini version and a Perfect Pot, then I think that's certainly all you need.
Apart from the fact that it's a little bulky so tricky to store if you're very short on space, I can confidently say that I have no real complaints. It might be worth noting that some customers have reported a loss of effectiveness in the non-stick feature after six months of regular use, which certainly gives me food for thought.
It’s an attractive piece of cookware, ethically conscious and multi-functional. If you look after it, it'll serve you well and give you some luxury. This item has all the makings of becoming a signature household staple, like, dare we say, a Le Creuset casserole dish…"

Perfect for homely, rustic and vintage-inspired kitchens, a versatile cast iron pot retains heat and moisture easily, is induction hob compatible and is suitable for the freezer and oven. Iconic.
Customer Review: "I have wanted this for months and finally got it as a birthday treat and am definitely not disappointed. Aside from it looking beautiful, it retains heat so well and is amazing for slow-cooking meats. As it is enamelled it is super easy to clean as well unlike other cast iron pans I have had. There are small bumps on the lid that make the liquid in the pan baste the contents which I haven't seen in any other Dutch oven so it definitely gives Staub the edge over competitors. Overall, no complaints and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of buying!"

A retro sensor bin? We're not joking. The Swan Retro 45L Square Sensor Bin comes in a refreshing Sage Green and boasts a generous 45-litre capacity, meeting all of your waste disposal needs. Whether a small household or a family home, this sensor bin uses infrared tech to activate the lid- so you don't have to make any contact with it, saving you any germs. Practical, and stylish, this retro kitchen appliance can be easily cleaned and the batteries easily changed.
Customer Review: "I use this as a recycling bin in my kitchen, sightly extravagant you might say but it's so perfect for the job and even better if you can find green bags to go in it. The process for setting the bag into the holders took me a couple of tries but when in, you can't see the bag meaning you have clean lines and can see the product fully.
It's hygienic, too; the no-touch sensor opens swiftly and gives off almost a small whistle when you wave your hand in front of it, and it gives you enough time to let you pop in what you need. It's easy to clean inside and out and buffs up nicely. 45 litres is ample to fill up without it being an excessive amount of rubbish in your kitchen. Requires a few batteries that last for a few months. Overall it's a quirky thing to have!"

FAQs
Why Do We Love Sage Green?
Not only does it complement all tones of wood beautifully, but it sits in any home, regardless of age, style or colour scheme. It’s evocative of nature, organic-looking and offers harmony in the home. In the Spring, green was growing, with green, olive and sage kitchens receiving a lot of searches online.
Further, Colour Expert and Dulux Heritage Creative Director, Marianne Shillingford, has predicted “Nature Luxe” to be the summer’s biggest interiors trend – which is nature-inspired.
Dulux Heritage has announced a rise in coastal and woodland paint colours, such as their Mallard and Sage Green colours, and has researched what’s on-trend for kitchens in 2023. Did you know that model and interior design lover, Vogue Williams, has redecorated her home with Dulux Heritage? With greens, greys and creams - reminiscent of the Irish seaside, her home now helps her feel grounded. How beautiful does that sound?
Stephanie King, Dulux DIY Paint Expert and Creative Lead says: “Blues and greens continue to reign supreme when it comes to shades for our homes, and there’s no surprise considering we find ourselves surrounded by these nature-inspired shades every day. The interiors world has had a big focus on biophilic design, and rich, verdant botanical patterns coming over the past few years, with saturated hues such as Mallard Green, Sage Green and DH Grass Green proving popular choices.”
How Can I Implement Sage In My Kitchen?
For this, we spoke with Jennie Nash, Senior Design Lead at Magnet Kitchens, who gave us her take on sage green kitchens. Whether walls, accents or accessories, we have tips for a sage green colourway. Sage green will exude a seamless country design feel, whether your main or secondary colours.
Cabinets – can go green! After all, sage green can offer a subtle statement to where you cram your pots, pans and Tupperware. Or, perhaps, you’ve got your kitchen storage in order… As for cabinets, Jennie from Magnet recommends going matte, pairing it with white marble or a quartz countertop.
Accents – present the opportunity to “bring the outside indoors through the addition of plants and planters,” says Jennie from Magnet. You can’t go wrong with a basil plant to add some “wow” to a hearty bolognese or some oregano for a vibrant summer Greek salad.
You can explore this natural, organic feel through soft furnishings, with sage green hand towels and oven mitts. If you’re going for something a little rustic, consider our vintage-inspired bread bin and cast-iron pot. Jennie Nash even suggests tableware essentials taking on this wholesome hue – a new dinner plate set doesn’t sound too bad. Pair with brass and metallic for taps and handles.
Lighting – complementary to a muted green space, Jennie says, can be: “a bright set of downlights [that] helps to create a light, airy and social feel to your kitchen space.” Having said that, something warm and pendant-like could really make your kitchen feel homely. Think brass or antique bronze.
Flooring – can vary, depending on what you choose for your kitchen. Luckily, Jennie has some ideas. For a light and airy sage green kitchen, they recommend “light cool-toned wood flooring.” After all, a natural, wooden element “will help to add an earthy feel,” for the ultimate nature-inspired kitchen.
On the other hand, dark stone flooring “will create a strong dramatic contrast in your kitchen space,” says Jennie. If you prefer a dark look for your kitchen, you’ll add some chicness, for sure - but, will miss out on the whimsicality that sage green can provide. Pattern tiling would be a great fit, also.
What Colour Goes With Sage Green Kitchenware?
Jennie Nash from Magnet Kitchens has some sage advice on colours that complement this muted green. On this, she points out that green is “directly opposite red on the colour wheel.” What does this mean? Essentially, these two colours “complement each other better than any other colours”.
Plus, since sage green has that on-trend muted tone that we all love, it “works best with pale muted reds, and pastel pinks and purples”. Having said that, adding a secondary green shade to the mix, helps create a “two-tone design”, giving your kitchen an ultra-modern feel, says Magnet. Further, muted greens look fabulous with an off-white or cream; they look very modern and chic, also. With vinyl kitchen wrap, you can add patterns around your kitchen for this tow-toned, stylish look.
For something a little more playful – and potentially cottagecore, “combine pale pink and sage green,” says Magnet. However, if a calming and nautical vibe is more your jam, “, consider pairing sage green with navy blue,” whether this is as a wall colour of your accessories. Your choice.
With a sage green, you can evoke a gorgeous feel to your kitchen. You bring the outside in – with organic tones, soft and sophisticated. It even pairs well with grey – doesn’t everything? Magnet adds that for a minimalist approach: “team sage green colourways with an exposed brick wall for an effect that seamlessly blends timeless and contemporary design elements.” Rustic, yet modern.
What Other Colours Are Trending?
If you’re not keen on sage kitchenware, there are a few other kitchen colours that are popular right now. For this, Jen Nash has some ideas on what’s hot (and what’s not) when it comes to kitchen colour ideas.
Blue – is another popular hue, rising in popularity due to Reese Witherspoon’s iconic powder-blue kitchen. With this, Magnet has been seeing searches for ‘beach blue kitchens’ on the rise. Who wouldn’t want a kitchen that reminded them of happy memories at the beach?
Jen comments: “…We are seeing lighter shades of blue kitchens increasingly grow in demand. These heritage-inspired shades offer a timeless, fresh and versatile approach but with an added sense of playfulness and personality, at home in both classic and contemporary spaces. Similar to green, the translucent, airy quality of these blue shades are evocative of nature - creating a feeling of serenity that works in tandem with the social demands and functions of a modern kitchen.”
Neutrals – are still reliable, despite maximalism becoming increasingly more favourable. When choosing a colour for your kitchen, it doesn't have to be bold. You can go for something neutral and understated - that's OK. Cosy, timeless neutrals are here for the long haul. We love that.
Jen comments: “Although we are seeing more people embrace brighter and more saturated colours in the kitchen and beyond, the minimalist kitchen trend and its accompanying neutral palette still hold strong in 2023. These hues have a space-enhancing effect and offer the clean and timeless finish all-white kitchens have so long been used for.”
