How To Clean A Washing Machine
Sometimes, our washing machine needs a deep cleaning. So, if your appliance is looking a little worse for wear, we recommend reading the following to get your machine back on top form. But, first, make sure to check your manufacturer’s manual before you attempt our method. This is because some companies provide specific advice or guidance on how to clean their machines.
Run a cycle, first. Make sure to check if your washing machine comes with its own cleaning cycle. Many newer washing machine models will have one of these. If not, add a washing machine cleaner to the dispenser and run a normal cycle with hot water.
Rinse and spin once the cleaning cycle has finished. Make sure all the cleaner washes out.
Clean the drawer and filter. You should be able to take out the removable dispenser drawer. Here, tackle it gently with an old toothbrush to remove any detergent buildup. Then, reassemble. The same process applies to your filter: rinse off the fluff and dirt – and pop back.
Clean the drum and rubber seal by wiping them down. Make sure to dry it, too – as this is where mould can easily build up as it stays damp. After a final wipe, leave the door open to air dry.
