The best coffee subscription opens up a world of speciality coffees to explore with your cafetière or coffee machine. If you're partial to a cup of coffee to start your day, or perhaps, you like to have a decaf chai latte when you’re tucked up in bed, then a convenient subscription service is ideal. If you're a regular coffee drinker and want something to cater to your taste, they are delivered to your door either every week, fortnight or month.

Whether latte, black, espresso or cold brew, we’re in awe of this little bean and the power it has. With a coffee subscription, you have your coffee hand-picked for you by a smart algorithm or a team of knowledgeable coffee experts. When it comes to coffee, you can never have too much, in your cupboards, that is.

Generally, a coffee subscription service is a great idea if you’re always on the go and have a bean-to-cup coffee machine in your home. Plus, it will give you the chance to try different beans, blends and types you wouldn’t normally find in your local supermarket or artisan coffee shop. This way, you’ll never run out – and your thirst for trying new coffee will always be quenched.

Best Coffee Subscription 2024

Best overall coffee subscription

This box includes exclusive content from their roasters too.

Our review: “I received two excellent coffees and a fun snack from Knack Snacks, plus a little guide that tells me about my coffees. The delivery arrived in a neat and sturdy box - just to note, it's a small parcel size rather than letterbox size.

The first coffee Skylark Coffee's Ethiopia, Acacia. I just love the packaging and it's currently pride of place in my coffee bar. Upon opening the resealable packet, I was hit with a wonderful strong coffee aroma. The date on the pack indicates that the coffee beans were recently ground. It has notes of blackberry, apple and marigold and yes, I do discern a fruity and floral aroma and taste. There's information about the provenance of the coffee and growing conditions. What really sets the coffee apart is that it's 100% not for profit – funds are to support the environment and people growing the coffee. Skylark is a roasters based near Brighton and it supports local conservation charities in the Southeast.

The second coffee in my subscription box is La Morena from Round Hill Roastery. It came in a gorgeous recyclable pink packet with contemporary blue hilly landscape. There's information on the packet about the origin (Guatemala), process (washed), tasting notes (honey comb, plum, stewed rhubarb) and the roast date. It's a 250g packet that has an airtight seal to keep it CO2 neutral. The blurb on the back of the packet alludes to the exotic location where this Somerset-based roastery source their coffee beans: "on whose slopes some of the world's greatest coffees are produced by the world's best farmers."

Upon opening the packet the aroma definitely punches, as the product description says: "Bright and vibrant… candy for grown-ups." It's heady and sweet-smelling. The taste is sweet and full-bodied, it's a delicious coffee that would work well with milk or cream. But I like my coffee black and would happily drink a cafetière of this. Alternatively, it's available in espresso roast, for lovers of an intense coffee kick.
All-in-all I'm loving Ben and Alice's honest-to-goodness enthusiasm and motivation to bring unusual and sustainable coffees to a wider audience."

Our Verdict: What Is The Best Coffee Subscription Service?

Rise Coffee Box is our favourite. Why?

Firstly, subscribers have some interesting and informative content to read while the coffee brews. Plus, this box can feature a huge variety of different regions, roasts and notes of coffee. Not only that, but the brand is plastic-free and aims to be kind to the planet, and is big on sustainability. Our favourite part, however, is that Rise boxes come with extra treats from emerging brands - and a recipe.

FAQs: Best Coffee Subscription

What do I need to think about before getting a coffee subscription?

If you already have your chosen coffee machine, be it filter, coffee pod, a budget coffee machine; then a coffee subscription service that matches your machine will be best. So either beans, pods, or ground. Make sure to check when you order that you aren’t ordering Nespresso-type pods for a cafetière as some services don’t cater to all coffee-brewing methods.

Similarly, if you’re part of a larger household of coffee drinkers, finding a service that caters to larger pack sizes or more frequent deliveries is worthwhile. You don’t want to run out of your new, favourite blend quickly. Work out if a weekly, fortnightly or monthly subscription works best for you. Just be sure to have enough milk in stock when it arrives.
